Attending peg parties,
Or hoping for new lotteries.
Gazing at the clocks,
As new year knocks.
Fireworks in the sky,
Or watching a TV show away from ply.
Bottles of beer and barrels of wine,
Some cliché parties which invite you to dine.
Just a switch of the calendar someway,
Admiring the undeniable, “Same old shit, different day.”
Counting down aloud or making a remarkable toast,
A kiss at midnight and a new year resolution to boast.
Materializing your mind to contemplate,
By arranging ornamental cakes to celebrate.
Is this all there is to the new year?
Then tell me what exactly is new here?
